Acure Organics Shampoo

Best Overall Quality

best quality natural shampoo Acure Organics’ Moroccan Argan Oil and Argan Stem Cell shampoo is our favorite, both in quality and healthiness. It’s bolstered by outstanding customer reviews and a very low EWG hazard rating of 1.

Argan oil, which is produced by pressing the nut of the Morrocan Argan tree, is the main ingredient.  The oil offers a variety of hair benefits, mostly centered on moisturizing and calming frizzy ends. Among other helpful ingredients, like Acai berry, the shampoo is supported by Pumpkin Seed Oil, which adds shine with Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.

One of the main tradeoffs that comes with organic shampoos is that they can fail to lather. This is usually because artificial lathering chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate aren’t found in organic products.  Acure’s shampoo lathers excellently, making it a refreshing break from thin, lather-less natural suds.

Kiss My Face’s Whenever Shampoo, weighing in at a substantial 32 ounces, departs from this convention. With an EWG hazard rating of 2, the shampoo boasts a respectable list of organic ingredients, like floral water of rosemary, chamomile, and lemon balm. How to Use Natural Shampoo

1. Cut out the Chemicals!

Do you use multiple styling products and dyes on a daily or weekly basis? You’ll need to cut them out of your regimen. Among other degradation, they strip your hair of important natural oils, among other health hazards. There are a lot of chemical culprits out there, but let’s name a few of the worse aggressors…

These are several distinct chemicals that are used to prevent the growth of microbes. Parabens are known to create endocrine disruption, which is a type of hormone disruption tied to breast cancer. Learn more about parabens here.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

Though there’s a lot of debate on the hazards of SLS, it’s generally accepted that the suds-creating chemical is a corrosive skin and eye irritant. Also, it moonlights as a pesticide and herbicide. Learn more about SLS here.

The toxic chemical used to preserve bodies was discovered time and time again in hair straightening products.

2. Cut Down on Washing

The goal here isn’t to transform yourself into an earthy mystic with a dirty mop. Rather, you need to return your scalp to its natural level of oil production. Because the chemicals found in most store-bought shampoos strip your scalp of its natural oils, your scalp overcompensates to reproduce oil. So in the first few non-washing days you’ll notice more oil buildup than normal… but roll with it: you’ll be well on your way to a healthy and manageable level of oil production.

3. Pick the right shampoo for you

Remember, a smooth transition to an organic shampoo isn’t seamless. Your hair, scalp, and skin are complex organs that have been tempered and affected by years of ingesting various hair products. Hopefully the above guide helps out, but there’s certainly some trial and error involved. We recommend picking three options and trying each one over the course of several weeks, only after the previous steps are followed.

Benefits of Natural Shampoo

Hair Health

With organic shampoo, your hair is enriched by ingredients found in nature, like Argan Oil, citrus, and rosemary water.  The minerals, oils and extracts found in natural shampoos have been reported time and time again to maintain shine and moisture more effectively than artificial chemicals.

Bodily Health

Our bodily health is benefited by avoiding the daily ingestion of harmful chemical agents found in non-organic options.

The ingredients found in natural shampoos are usually biodegradable. On the other hand, the chemical agents found in common non-orgnaic shampoos are often created through highly polluting manufacturing processes. Sodium lauryl sulfate, for example, releases volatile organic and sulfur compounds, and air particulates.  Ultimately, these harmful chemicals end up in our rivers and streams.
